Sometimes when you come across duplicate topics, it makes sense to delete the one with less content.
For example: http://www.slant.co/topics/1157/~what-is-the-best-reddit-client-for-android vs http://www.slant.co/topics/641/~what-is-the-best-reddit-client-for-android
In this case, the latter one should get deleted. Maybe there should be a way to flag topics for deletion so that mods can potentially delete them.
We could even ask the user to link to the topic that has more content to accelerate moderation.
It could also make sense to merge the two topics if both contain useful info.

It should also be possible to request the deletion of an option.
We have a chunk of missing mod functionality. I think a generic flagging system will be best for this. Flag things that:
Need to be deleted
Are out of date
Malicious
Plagiarised
Misleading
Duplicate etc
Then we will need a mod panel to help the mods find and deal with flagged content. Probably something we should build sooner than later…
What about requesting a merge of duplicate topics (maintaining all suggestions or removing exact duplicates, etc.)?

The merging is what we really want to do at some point, but is a little tricky… V1 will be the flagging system, v2 will probably have merging.
Typically, it isn’t practical to delete options unless they are straight spam or not appropriate for the question. If the option isn’t around anymore or if it doesn’t compete with the others, it would be better to add cons. This way, users are still informed and we don’t lose content.
